Greek musical‑theatre fusion of “Ah Λαός” and Euripides' “The Trojan Women” debuts

The musical‑theatrical production that combines Dimitris Lagios’ 1983 album “Ah Λαός” with Euripides’ tragedy “The Trojan Women” premiered on 29 July 2026 at the Theatre of the Earth in Thessaloniki, opening the 12th Forest Festival of KTHE. Directed by Stelios Vrachnis, the show features a cast of 19 actors, singers and musicians, including Giota Festa as Ekab, Ioanna Pilichou as Andromache, Alkistis Angelopoulou as Cassandra and Yakinthi Lagios, the daughter of Lagios.

The performance blends re‑orchestrated music for strings, woodwinds and electronic sounds with polyphonic vocal arrangements, creating a “stage requiem” that reflects war, loss and memory. Central to the staging is an installation of 2,000 men’s garments symbolising absent bodies. After the premiere the production will launch a nationwide tour across Greece, presenting the fusion of folk‑rock heritage and classical tragedy to a broader audience.
