Greek Navy conducts UVEX 2/26 unmanned systems exercise

The Hellenic Navy has successfully completed the second small-scale technical exercise, “UVEX 2/26,” focused on experimentation and innovation with unmanned systems. Conducted in the maritime areas of the South Euboean Naval Base and the Saronic Gulf, the exercise tested a multi-layered fleet of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), and unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs).

The operation involved various naval commands, including Frigate, Fast Patrol Boat, Submarine, and Naval Aviation commands. The exercise utilized swarm tactics to saturate defenses and tested scenarios involving the detection and engagement of surface vessels and land targets, as well as the use of armed suicide drones.

A significant component of the exercise was the involvement of the Greek innovation ecosystem and domestic defense industry. Systems developed by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff Research, Technology Development and Innovation Center (KETAK), the Hellenic Army General Staff 306th Telecommunications Base Workshop, and entities from the National Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT) and the National Intelligence Service (EYP) were also evaluated.
