Greek New Democracy spokesperson Sdoukou slams PASOK over €7 billion of unfunded promises

Alexandra Sdoukou, the press secretary for Greece's ruling New Democracy party, accused the opposition PASOK of offering €7 billion in public‑sector benefits without secured funding. She cited specific pledges: a 13th salary for civil servants costing €1.5 bn, a VAT cut worth €1.8 bn annually, a 13th pension amounting to €2.5 bn, the reinstatement of the EKAS benefit (€540 m) and a reform of the retirees’ solidarity contribution (€750 m). Sdoukou said the government backs its proposals with real fiscal space, pointing to the digital work‑card scheme that generated about €500 m for the Treasury.

She also addressed the OPEKEPE case and defended the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, noting that while the institution should function, any irregularities must be highlighted. In a broader political context, Sdoukou highlighted the International Thessaloniki Exhibition as a venue where the government's and opposition's policy programs will be judged by the public.
