Greek Olympic Committee backs new Karaiskakis stadium legislation

The Hellenic Olympic Committee (EOE) voted unanimously to support a legislative regulation that will allow the construction and expansion of the new Georgios Karaiskakis stadium in Falirou. The draft law, to be submitted to the relevant parliamentary committee, would extend the lease for Olympiacos' use of the venue to 49 years and recognize the EOE’s ownership of the property.

The measure permits Olympiacos to fund the stadium’s upgrade and capacity increase while initiating negotiations on a permanent annual fee that the club will pay to the EOE. The proceeds are earmarked to support the preparation of Greek athletes for the Olympic Games.
