Greek Onassis Public Schools Open Teacher Applications and Cancel Some Placements

The Greek Ministry of Education announced that permanent secondary‑school teachers may apply to be assigned for one academic year to public Onassis schools (ΔΗΜ. Ω. Σ.) for the 2026‑2027 term. Applications are accepted online until 23:59 GMT on 12 July, with eligibility limited to teachers serving in the same regional unit or appointed for the 2024‑25 school year. The programme expands the network to 20 schools nationwide, adding eight new sites in Aigaleo, Rhodes, Heraklion and Pyrgos, and offers participants access to modern facilities, digital tools and possible scholarships up to €5,000 for postgraduate studies.

A separate ministerial decree later revoked the two‑year tenure previously granted to certain teachers placed in these schools for the 2026‑2027 and 2027‑2028 academic years. The decision cancels the earlier administrative act, instructs regional education directors to notify the affected staff promptly, and integrates the change into the broader staffing adjustments ahead of the new school year.
