Greek Orthodox Dormition of the Theotokos services scheduled for August 2026

Metropolitan Timotheos of Thessaloniki opened the first Holy Prayer to the Mother of God on 2 August 2026, marking the start of a month‑long devotional period leading to the Dormition of the Theotokos, celebrated as the “Summer Easter”. The Metropolitan emphasized participation in liturgical rites, confession, prayer and love as part of the spiritual preparation.

The parish of Saint Protomartyr of Tyros and the Holy Temple of Saint Marina of Tyros, under the Metropolis of Mantineia and Kynouria, released a detailed schedule of the August 2026 services. Evening prayers begin at 20:00 with a vespers at 19:30 on selected dates throughout the month, culminating in a major vespers on 14 August and an all‑night Divine Liturgy on 15 August at the Holy Temple of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Ano Tyros. Faithful are invited to attend the services and the Fifteenth‑day celebrations for spiritual renewal.
