Greek Orthodox Metropolises celebrate feast of Saint Fanourios

The feast day of Saint Fanourios was celebrated with religious services across various Greek Orthodox Metropolises.

In the Metropolis of Piraeus, Metropolitan Serafeim led the Vespers service at the Holy Church of Saint Fanourios in Drapetsona. During his sermon, he emphasized the eternal life of the saint and noted the miraculous discovery of his icon on the island of Rhodes in 1335 following a Saracen raid.

Similarly, in the Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania, Metropolitan Damaskinos presided over the Panegyric Vespers at the Holy Trinity Church in Stamna, Messolonghi. The Metropolitan highlighted the popularity of Saint Fanourios among the faithful, noting that many invoke his name for miraculous intervention in their daily lives. The celebration included the blessing of traditional 'fanouropites' prepared by the community.
