Greek Parliament approves fuel subsidies and migrant housing measures
The Hellenic Parliament has approved the Alternative Dispute Resolution Code along with two significant government amendments regarding fuel subsidies and migrant housing.
The first amendment, introduced by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, establishes subsidies for heating oil, diesel, and unleaded gasoline (up to 95 octane). These subsidies are set to activate on October 15 for heating oil and diesel, and October 17 for unleaded gasoline, with an initial horizon through October 31. The measures aim to provide relief through state subsidies and refinery discounts.
The second amendment, proposed by the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, facilitates the expedited establishment of a temporary migrant hosting facility in the municipality of Heraklion, Crete. The government cited the need for urgent responses to increased migratory flows at the country’s southern maritime borders.
The Alternative Dispute Resolution Code aims to modernize and unify various out-of-court settlement methods, such as mediation and arbitration, to reduce the burden on the judicial system and provide faster, less expensive options for citizens and businesses.
