Greek PASOK Spokesperson Kostas Tsoukalas Slams Economy and Tax Policy

PASOK‑Movement for Change spokesperson Kostas Tsoukalas told reporters that the Greek economy is not over‑performing, contrary to the prime minister’s claim. He argued that price‑precision measures are actually benefitting cartels and enabling state speculation through indirect taxes, raising the burden on households and businesses. Tsoukalas pointed to a month‑long stability of prices for about 2,000 product codes, saying the government keeps those codes hidden even from supermarket leaders and the minister of development. He linked the criticism to Greece’s low competitiveness ranking, a large current‑account deficit and weakened purchasing power. He also questioned the government’s handling of pension cuts, security‑protocol gaps and alleged Russian‑linked fraud, demanding explanations from the prime minister.
