Greek Patriot missiles intercept ballistic missile and drone in Saudi Arabia
On September 24, 2026, the Greek Patriot missile battery of the Hellenic Force in Saudi Arabia (ELDYSA) successfully intercepted two aerial threats. The engagement, which occurred at 13:40, involved the launch of two Patriot missiles to neutralize one ballistic missile and one unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
The interception took place in the vicinity of Yanbu, an area containing critical oil refinery installations. The Greek military's involvement is part of the Integrated Air Missile Defense (IAMD) Concept, an international initiative to support the air defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Hellenic Defense General Staff (GEETHA) confirmed the success of the operation and stated that ELDYSA continues its mission as scheduled.
