Greek PM Mitsotakis inspects Leros hospital renovation and port upgrades

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the State Hospital‑General Hospital of Leros, touring the newly renovated emergency department, cardiology, pathology, gynecology, pediatrics, surgery units, the radiology laboratory and a 10‑bed artificial‑kidney unit. The extensive works were financed by the EU Recovery Fund and are slated for completion before the fund closes in the coming months.

During the same trip the prime minister inspected the Lakkos port, where maintenance of the main gate has been finished and an expansion is planned, also funded by the Recovery Fund. A new marina capable of accommodating up to 70 recreational vessels was presented. Mitsotakis said the government will deliver a much better National Health System, calling the upgrades the largest intervention in ESY infrastructure since its founding. The hospital served more than 33,500 patients last year, including 10,000 emergency admissions.
