Greek PM Mitsotakis launches price‑comparison platform amid anti‑inflation drive

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis accused the opposition of offering "free" measures that hide real costs and promoted a growth‑first agenda. As part of the new economic message, his government unveiled the digital platform “PosoKanei”, a price‑comparison and monitoring tool intended to increase market transparency and curb excessive profit margins. Mitsotakis said, "When the market does not comply, the state steps in," reinforcing new checks and fines for businesses that breach profit‑margin caps.

The platform was presented by the Independent Market Supervision Authority together with ministers of finance and trade, and will allow consumers to compare shelf prices in real time. The launch coincides with broader policy moves, including permanent tax cuts for younger citizens, a partnership with Amazon Web Services to boost the country’s tech profile, and a campaign aimed at winning moderate voters ahead of the 2027 parliamentary election.
