Greek police arrest suspects in Messinia and Florina fraud cases
Greek authorities have arrested several individuals in separate fraud operations in Messinia and Florina. In Messinia, two people aged 25 and 29 were apprehended for allegedly participating in a criminal organization. The group reportedly impersonated DEDDIE employees or accountants to defraud citizens, with illegal gains exceeding 41,000 euros. In Florina, a 23-year-old and a minor were arrested following a telephone scam targeting a 52-year-old man. The perpetrator impersonated a tax official, convincing the victim to leave 2,700 euros in cash and 9,000 euros in jewelry outside his home to avoid a supposed fine. Police recovered the stolen items and arrested the mother of the minor for neglect of supervision. Investigations are ongoing to identify an additional accomplice in the Florina case.
