Greek police break up organized football fan gangs in Thessaloniki and Athens

A coordinated police operation in northern Greece targeted an organised football fan group operating in Thessaloniki, Chalkidiki and Mykonos. Twenty people were arrested – fifteen as core members of the gang, four for assisting or benefiting from its activities and one mother for neglecting a minor. The indictment lists 51 suspects charged with forming a criminal organisation, drug and weapons violations, violent assaults, property damage, robbery, aiding criminals and child‑neglect. Investigators identified three additional key members, including the gang leader, who remain at large.

In a separate sweep in central and southern Greece, authorities dismantled an Athens‑based fan gang after raids in West Attica and Corinthia. Ten individuals were taken into custody and the case now names 39 accused. The group was involved in organised fan violence, drug trafficking (cocaine, cannabis, ecstasy), extortion, arson and the use of firearms, clubs and fireworks. Police seized weapons, large quantities of narcotics, cash and electronic equipment, and issued arrest warrants for three more suspected leaders. Both investigations trace the gangs' activity back to at least 2021‑2025, highlighting a pattern of violent attacks on rival supporters and criminal enterprises linked to sports events.
