Greek police bust €585,000 burglary ring in Thessaloniki

The Hellenic Police’s Crime Investigation Department dismantled a sophisticated burglary ring operating in central Thessaloniki. The gang, equipped with specialized tools and hundreds of keys, targeted apartments with high‑security locks, stealing jewellery, precious metals, cash and other valuables worth more than €585,000.

Two members, aged 36 and 24 and both of Georgian origin, were arrested on the spot after a 36‑year‑old was caught breaking into a flat and a 24‑year‑old was found acting as a look‑out. A third suspect, a 39‑year‑old Georgian, remains at large. Investigators say the group has been active since at least December 2025 and linked to eight additional break‑ins, accumulating over €531,000 in stolen goods and €54,000 in cash. Police seized a large cache of burglary equipment, including 253 keys, specialised lock‑picking tools, a magnetic bolt cutter, plastic door‑bypass cards, a diamond detector and other hardware.
