Greek police dismantle multiple organized‑crime rings in Athens and Thessaloniki

Coordinated police operations in June 2026 broke up several organised‑crime groups across Greece. In the Athens region, officers seized a family‑run drug network – six people were arrested and 730 g of cannabis, two firearms, ammunition, cash and €600 were confiscated. A separate fraud ring that pretended to be DEH Energy or tax officials was also busted; eight members were detained and investigators linked them to more than €440 000 obtained through burglaries and scams. In the Thessaloniki area, a fan‑hooligan group involved in assaults, property damage, drug and weapon possession was dismantled, resulting in 20 arrests and charges against 51 participants for organised‑crime, drug offences and violent attacks. A third operation in Attica targeted three men caught with over 3 kg of cocaine, leading to their arrest and the seizure of the drug, a vehicle and €1 250. Across the actions, authorities reported dozens of arrests, substantial drug and cash seizures, and the disruption of criminal networks operating in burglary, fraud, drug trafficking and violent fan violence.
