Greek police conduct helmet safety campaign across multiple regions

Greek police services have launched a widespread enforcement campaign titled ‘Zero Tolerance for Non-Use of Helmets’ to promote road safety among two-wheeled vehicle users and light electric vehicle (EPΗΟ) operators.

In Thessaly, between October 19 and 25, 2026, authorities conducted 891 checks, resulting in 111 violations. The enforcement was distributed across the Larisa, Magnesia, Trikala, and Karditsa police directorates. Violations included non-compliance by motorcycle riders, passengers, and light electric vehicle drivers.

Simultaneously, in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, 883 checks were performed during the same period, leading to 30 recorded violations. These operations targeted motorcycle riders, three-wheelers, and professional delivery personnel across Orestiada, Alexandroupoli, Rodopi, Xanthi, Kavala, and Drama. In addition to inspections, police conducted educational lectures and distributed informative materials regarding road safety and the mandatory use of protective helmets.
