Greek police detain 27-year-old in Chalkidiki weapons crackdown
On the afternoon of 11 July 2026, the newly created North Greece Organized Crime Sub‑Directorate carried out extensive checks in the tourist region of Chalkidiki. A mixed police team from the Anti‑Extortion Office, the Narcotics Division and the Intelligence and Special Operations Unit inspected five health‑related stores, twelve vehicles and nineteen individuals.
The operation led to the arrest of a 27‑year‑old Greek citizen. A search of his twin‑cylinder motorcycle uncovered a folding metal baton, which authorities classified as an illegal weapon. The suspect was taken to the appropriate prosecutorial authority and charged with violating weapons legislation. Police officials said the targeted inspections will continue throughout the summer to maintain security in the area.
