Greek police detain drunk driver near Malakasa and cannabis trafficker on Mykonos
On 20 June 2026, a 28‑year‑old man was stopped by police on the New National Road Athens‑Lamia near Malakasa. He was driving a luxury car, performed dangerous lane changes, and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Authorities opened a criminal case for dangerous driving and driving under the influence and transferred him to the prosecutor’s office.
Later the same day, police on Mykonos arrested a 21‑year‑old local who was attempting to flee after a checkpoint. He threw a sack that contained 1,133 g of raw cannabis and 300 g of processed cannabis, and was also found with €1,390 in cash and a mobile phone. He was charged with drug transport, trafficking and disobedience, and taken to the Syros criminal court.
