Greek police detain suspects in fraud scheme and drug‑trafficking ring

A 28‑year‑old man was arrested in Almyros after defrauding three elderly victims by convincing them to place valuables in aluminum foil and bags, then stealing the items. He promised to fully compensate the victims and remains in custody pending trial.

Separately, internal affairs recordings exposed a 28‑year‑old security guard and a 32‑year‑old former footballer coordinating cocaine sales to night‑club patrons in the Athens area. The intercepted calls also involved the guard’s brother, a police officer, who discussed illicit payments. The operation led to the arrest of six suspects and exposed the broader drug‑distribution network.

Both cases illustrate coordinated criminal activity targeting vulnerable individuals and nightlife venues, prompting further police investigations in Greece.
