Greek police dismantle massive cannabis farms in Arkadia, Messinia and Lesvos

On 3 July 2026 Greek police raided a large, organised cannabis cultivation network in three regions. In the municipality of South Kynouria, Arkadia, officers uncovered a hidden plantation covering about 14 stremmas with 1,561 cannabis plants, equipment for drying, irrigation and storage, and seized a potential profit of roughly €3.1 million.

A day earlier a similar operation in the forest area of Pyli‑Néstoros, Messinia, exposed 1,532 plants spread over a multi‑level site, an estimated yield of 766 kg and an expected illicit gain of €1.5‑2.3 million. Police arrested two Albanian nationals and are searching for a third suspect.

In the mountainous region of Agiasos on Lesvos, three smaller farms containing 89 plants were found. Two local men were detained and a range of cultivation gear, bags, containers and other tools were confiscated.

Across the three raids a total of four to five suspects were taken into custody, the plants were uprooted and a large amount of drug‑related equipment was seized, dealing a significant blow to the organised drug‑trafficking network.

The operations involved specialised units from the Narcotics Division, the Crime Prevention and Suppression Team, and support dogs from several prefectures.
