Ano Liosia crime ring dismantled after 800,000 euro fraud

Greek police have dismantled a sophisticated organized crime ring operating out of a call center in Ano Liosia. The group, which included eight arrests, specialized in impersonating utility employees from DEDDIE, energy companies, and accountants to defraud citizens.

Using various tactics, the criminals would contact victims claiming there were technical faults, power leaks, or outstanding tax issues. They would then instruct victims to leave cash or valuables in accessible locations outside their homes, where accomplices would collect them. In one instance, the group reportedly defrauded a minor of jewelry worth 10,000 euros.

The organization featured a structured hierarchy, including a 27-year-old leader coordinating calls. Investigations have uncovered dozens of cases of fraud, theft, and robbery, with total illegal gains estimated to exceed 800,000 euros. Police seized jewelry, watches, and operational equipment during the raid.
