Greek police dismantle Roma gang after house robbery in Vrachneika

Police from the Patras Crime Investigation Unit carried out a coordinated raid on Thursday morning in a camp in Vrachneika, Achaea, after a months‑long investigation into an organised group suspected of a robbery. One man and one woman were arrested on the spot, while two additional suspects were identified, bringing the total to four individuals.

The suspects are accused of forming a criminal gang and of committing a joint robbery on 17 July 2026. Masked men forced their way into a residence, assaulted the homeowner, and stole a safe containing more than €43,000, US$2,000, gold crosses, a watch and other valuable jewellery. The two women are alleged to have acted as lookouts to facilitate the intrusion and the escape. All four are to appear before the Achaea public prosecutor, and the investigation remains ongoing.
