Athens-area jewelry store burglary gang dismantled, €370,000 seized

Police investigations by the Hellenic Police Crime Division (ELAS) and the Piraeus Crime Unit uncovered a well‑organized criminal group operating from an Upper Korydallos base since early 2026. The gang used stolen vehicles, hooded clothing, gloves and dark attire to approach and break into jewelry stores across Attica, including Korydallos, Nikaia, Moschato and other districts. Their modus operandi involved scouting targets, stealing cars for the approach and escape, bypassing security rolls with bolt‑cutters or breaking display windows, and stealing gold jewellery.

A coordinated raid on 1 July 2026 resulted in nine arrests (ages 21‑45) and the identification of a tenth suspect. Authorities seized jewellery worth an estimated €370,000, €4,000 in cash, eleven “operational” mobile phones, five vehicles used for the crimes, and clothing used during the burglaries. A collaborator in Ano Liosia was found to have handled the laundering of the stolen goods.

The suspects face charges of participation in a criminal organisation, aggravated theft, property damage and money‑laundering. To date, six jewellery‑store burglaries and seven vehicle thefts have been attributed to the group, with a total illicit gain of roughly €370,000.
