Greek police dismantle massive cannabis plantation in Fthiotida

The Kalamata Narcotics Division, supported by the Special Anti‑Terrorist Unit and regional police forces, carried out a raid on 10 July 2026 in the forested area of Mount Kallidromio, Fthiotida. Investigators uncovered a concealed cannabis farm covering about 25 hectares with more than 4,600 (officially 4,670) plants, equipped with drying rooms, a water tank, solar panels and living tents.

Three suspects were arrested on the spot – a 50‑year‑old Greek man and two foreign nationals aged 33 and 38. Seized items included 412 g of cannabis, a Zastava pistol with two magazines, 22 cartridges, seven mobile phones, €440 in cash and various cultivation tools. Police estimate the operation’s potential profit at roughly €9 million.

The case is being investigated for organized crime, drug‑law violations and illegal possession of firearms, with the suspects now in the custody of the public prosecutor.
