Greek port authorities seize cannabis and methamphetamine shipments in Kavala and Elefsina
Greek customs officials arrested a 24‑year‑old Bahraini national and a 59‑year‑old Greek man after discovering multiple packages of raw cannabis at the central passenger port of Kavala. The seizure included 48.8 g and 531.7 g of cannabis in paper and nylon packs, sealed packets of cannabis‑filled hand‑rolled cigarettes, and oil‑laden vape cartridges, together with a precision scale. The substances were confiscated for analysis by the regional chemical services.
In a separate operation at the Elefsina port, authorities detained a 44‑year‑old Iranian citizen and seized 436.2 g of crystal methamphetamine, along with empty packaging for distribution, a metal grinder with cannabis residue, two USB data sticks and a mobile phone. The estimated street value of the methamphetamine was €6,540. Both investigations were conducted by the Central Port Authority’s anti‑drug units in cooperation with police and detection dog teams.
