Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis Announces Further Fuel Price Cuts and Two-Month Price Freeze

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told a cabinet meeting that gasoline prices at the pump are expected to fall further. The government will monitor the market through the ministry and an independent authority, and has reached an agreement with market participants to keep fuel prices frozen for the next two months.

Mitsotakis linked the price relief to lower international oil prices, noting the recent easing of tensions between the United States and Iran. He said the freeze will allow additional reductions from September onward. The premier also highlighted other policy actions: more than €24 billion already disbursed from the EU Recovery Fund, €617.5 million paid to around 530,000 farmers, ongoing infrastructure projects such as the Thessaloniki flyover, and criticism of the opposition’s proposals.
