Greek real estate prices rise due to Hollywood film tourism

The presence of Hollywood film productions is acting as a catalyst for rising real estate prices in various Greek islands. This phenomenon of "film tourism" transforms these locations into global brands, attracting foreign investors and increasing demand for vacation homes.

In the Cyclades, Mykonos remains a benchmark for the luxury housing market. According to the GEOAXIS Observatory, Mykonos records the highest median asking price for luxury units at €16,790 per square meter, a 4.9% horizontal increase compared to last year. High-end properties in the area can reach prices of up to €30,000 per square meter.

On the island of Hydra, the production of the film "The Riders" starring Brad Pitt has highlighted the island's historical atmosphere. Renovated mansions in Hydra often exceed €7,500 per square meter, while smaller homes requiring renovation start at approximately €5,000 per square meter. Other notable cinematic influences include the series "Emily in Paris," which featured Mykonos, and the film "Captain Corelli's Mandolin," which impacted Kefalonia.
