Greece marks start of new school year across various regions

The new school year has officially commenced across various regions in Greece. In Central Macedonia, approximately 220,000 students returned to 2,400 school units. Deputy Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports Nikos Papaioannou attended the blessing ceremony at the public Onassis Schools in Thessaloniki, highlighting the importance of combining free public education with high-quality digital platforms and specialized laboratories.

On the small island of Pserimos, the school year began with six students, a development seen as vital for the local community's continuity. Member of Parliament Giannis Pappas attended the ceremony, noting that supporting local education is essential for keeping families on the island. Meanwhile, in the Municipality of Ancient Olympia, local authorities welcomed students and emphasized their commitment to maintaining safe and modern school infrastructures.
