Greek Shipping Minister Vasilis Kikilis Emphasizes Safety at Kyllini Port

Minister Vasilis Kikilis visited the Kyllini port to review maritime safety and operations. The Greek Coast Guard’s Kyllini office employs 30 staff members and operates the Viking‑type patrol vessel PLS 1092.

Kyllini runs ten daily ferry routes – six to Zakynthos and four to Poros/Kefalonia – carrying more than 810,000 passengers in 2025. The authority conducts over 1,800 safety inspections of ferries, tourist vessels, and yachts, and oversees eight busy beaches, lifeguard services and marine‑rental operators.

In meetings with local officials, including the mayor of Andravida‑Kyllini and the president of the municipal harbor fund, the minister reiterated that passenger safety is the top priority for the port and the Ministry of Shipping.
