Greek summer sales 2026 begin July 13, continue through August 31

The 2026 Greek summer sales period starts on the second Monday of July, 13 July, and runs until 31 August. Retailers, including shops and department stores, are expected to be open on the first Sunday of the sales, 19 July, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

According to current retail legislation, businesses must clearly display both the original and reduced prices. The “original price” is defined as the lowest price at which the product was sold in the last 30 days (or 10 days if the item has been on the market for less than a month). Discount percentages are optional, but if used they must be clearly marked. When more than 60 % of a store’s items are discounted, the percentage must be shown in the window, with ranges indicated where appropriate (e.g., “15 %–45 %”). Stock‑outlet stores must erase the old price and display the new lower price prominently.

Consumer advice stresses the need to differentiate “sales” (typically current‑season items) from “offer” promotions (often older‑season goods with larger reductions). Both types require clear price labeling, though offers may not need to show a discount rate.
