Greek summer theater productions draw thousands of spectators

The musical «ΤΟΥ ΑΓΟΡΙΟΥ ΑΠΕΝΑΝΤΙ», created by Michalis Repas and Thanasis Papathanasiou, has completed one month of continuous performances at the Theatre Alcos DEI in Athens. Since its premiere, the show has attracted large audiences, featuring a cast of well‑known Greek actors, a live eight‑member orchestra and a 20‑dancer troupe, and is being described as the standout theatrical event of the summer.

The ancient Greek tragedy «Πέρσες» by Aeschylus, directed by Christos Theodoridis, opened at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus on 3‑4 July. More than 17,000 spectators attended the premiere. The production, with a 17‑member dance ensemble and a cast that includes Maria Naupeliou, Dimitris Kataleifos and others, began a summer tour on 6 July at the Ancient Theatre of Dio, emphasizing anti‑war themes and collective memory.

Both productions underline a vibrant season for Greek theater, drawing significant public interest across historic and contemporary venues.
