Greek theatre announces new productions for October

New theatrical productions are scheduled to debut in Greece this October.

“White Nights of a Clown” by Vasilis Katsikonouris will open at the Mavili Theatre on October 19. Directed by Giannis Zouganelis, the play is a reimagining of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s “White Nights.” It follows a forgotten clown living in loneliness who encounters a woman, exploring themes of human connection and hope through a lens of skewed humor.

Additionally, the State Theatre of Northern Greece presents “Black Birthday,” a contemporary dark comedy by Kostas Stavrou. Directed by Nikos Nikolaou, the play premieres on October 23 at the Macedonian Studies Company Theatre. The story centers on a man approaching his 60th birthday who is gripped by anxiety and the fear of death, leading to an unexpected confrontation with his close friend involving memories and life reflections.
