Greek towns host music festivals on World Music Day

On Sunday 21 June 2026, Ioannina held an international music concert in Mavili Square to mark World Music Day. Conducted by Eduardo Marturet, music director of the Miami Symphony Orchestra, the event featured the municipal Symphony Orchestra, the mixed choir Cantus of the local primary school and guest performers, including a first pan‑European rendition of the CONCACAF anthem. The concert was streamed live, and the mayor of Ioannina presented Marturet with an honorary plaque.

On the same day, the choir «Alexandrine Voices» thanked supporters for the 27th «Voices of Peace» choir meeting held at the Spiritual Centre of the municipality of Alexandroupoli. The choir highlighted the contributions of local sponsors, businesses and the large audience that attended, praising the collective effort that celebrated choral music and the values of peace and cooperation.
