Greek towns start road paving upgrades in Thermo and Florina

In Thermo, the second phase of the Meligkova‑AmbraKia road upgrade began on 9 July 2026. The 4.5‑kilometre stretch will be resurfaced and modernised under a €1.4 million project funded by the Regional Development Programme and executed by contractor Konstantinos Papathanasiou. The work aims to replace a difficult dirt road, improve safety and reduce the isolation of villages in the mountainous Aitolo‑Akarnania region.

In the city of Florina, municipal crews have started asphalt paving on several streets, including Kontopoulou, Epirus, Megalo Alexandrou and sections of Konstantinos Karamanlis Avenue. Mayor Vasilis Giannakis said the works are a priority to restore smooth and safe traffic and will be followed by further phases in surrounding municipal communities. Temporary traffic regulations may be applied during the works.
