Greek Trade Unionists Expelled from Israel Over West Bank Visit

Four Greek trade unionists, a female union leader and a retired worker sought to visit colleagues in the West Bank. Israeli military authorities required prior permission, which was denied, leading to their expulsion. The group was returned to Athens on the next available flight.

Union leader Giota Lazarpoulou, president of SEET, said the army makes the decisions and highlighted the restriction on access to Ramallah via Tel‑Aviv. Opposition parties in Greece accused Israel of violating international law and urged Prime Minister Mitsotakis to request explanations. The union federation announced a press conference to reaffirm solidarity with the Palestinian people despite the expulsion.
