Greek tragedies 'Oedipus Rex' and 'The Trojan Women' debut in Greece and Calabria

Luca De Fusco’s production of Sophocles’ *Oedipus Rex* opened on 6‑7 July at the National Theatre of Northern Greece in Thessaloniki. The performance, a co‑production of the Teatro di Roma – Teatro Nazionale, emphasizes a psycho‑analytic reading of the myth, with a cast that includes Luca Lazzareschi, Manuela Mandracchia and Paolo Serra. Music by Ran Bagno and video work by Alessandro Papa accompany the staging.

Meanwhile, the classical Euripides play *The Trojan Women* was presented by the association Spazio Scenico in Calabria, Italy. The production offers a contemporary reinterpretation that draws parallels with current international conflicts, using local artists, craftsmen and video‑mapping. It is part of a broader community program that includes workshops, training for young people and efforts to strengthen cultural identity in the region.
