Green Capital advances data center project in Trelew, Argentina

The Polish firm Green Capital is advancing plans to develop a data center near Trelew, Argentina. This move represents a strategic shift for the company, which had previously focused on green hydrogen projects in the region but has since redirected its efforts due to a global slowdown in the hydrogen market.

The proposed project aims to utilize wind and solar energy to power the data center, supplemented by gas to ensure a continuous supply. Green Capital has secured reservation agreements for various fields and is evaluating the installation of energy infrastructure. The company has presented the project to the Polish Embassy in Buenos Aires and is seeking to join the Regime of Incentives for Large Investments (RIGI). Local producers note that the infrastructure, such as wind turbines, can coexist with existing sheep farming activities.
