Green Capital to build AI data center in Trelew, Argentina

The Polish company Green Capital has announced plans to build a mega data center dedicated to artificial intelligence in Trelew, Chubut. The project was announced at the Polish Embassy in Argentina with the support of Chubut Governor Ignacio Torres.

Green Capital has signed a memorandum of understanding with several partners, including Schneider Electric, Wärtsilä, and Envision Energy, to advance the development. The project aims to leverage the region's high wind energy yields and territorial advantages.

However, local concerns have been raised regarding the environmental impact, specifically regarding the high consumption of water and electricity required for such facilities. Critics noted that the area faces water scarcity issues, particularly during the summer, and the project details have not yet specified the water source intended for cooling the data center.
