Green Carnation releases final chapter of ‘A Dark Poem’ trilogy

Norwegian progressive metal band Green Carnation has released the final chapter of their trilogy, titled ‘A Dark Poem, Part III: The Messiah Complex’. Released through Season of Mist, the album concludes a project that began with ‘The Shores of Melancholia’ and continued with ‘Sanguis’.

The new work explores themes of technology, power, and social division, utilizing a narrative inspired by Arthur Rimbaud’s interpretation of Shakespeare’s Ophelia. Musically, the album blends progressive metal with rock and folk influences.

A notable feature of the release is the ‘A Dark Poem – Orchestral Suite’, a 16-minute finale recorded at the Kilden Performing Arts Centre. This segment features the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alexander Hanson, and the Kristiansand Opera Choir, prepared and conducted by Anne Haugland Balsnes.
