Green Day's 'Nimrods' Film and Soundtrack Release in August

Green Day's coming‑of‑age comedy film **Nimrods** opens in U.S. theaters on August 14, with an earlier UK release on August 11 and an Italian launch on August 11‑18. The story follows three friends who travel from Kansas City to Los Angeles after mistakenly believing they will open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve, echoing the band’s own early touring days. The cast includes Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman and Ryan Foust, alongside Jenna Fischer, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee and Sean Gunn. Director Lee Kirk co‑wrote the film with the band, which also serves as a producer alongside Tim Perell.

A 30‑track original soundtrack, issued on July 31, features 22 Green Day songs spanning their career, a new single “I’m Never Gonna R. I. P.”, and four previously unreleased live recordings from a Los Angeles Palladium show. The album also includes tracks by fictional band Analog Dogs and contributions from The Paradox, Ultra Q and Mckenna Grace. Green Day promoted the film at San Diego Comic‑Con by performing on an ice‑cream truck, distributing frozen desserts, T‑shirts and cassette tapes to the crowd.
