Green Day releases new single and soundtrack for upcoming film Nimrods

Green Day has unveiled a brand‑new song, “I’m Never Gonna R. I. P.”, which appears on the official soundtrack for the band’s forthcoming comedy‑road‑movie Nimrods. The 30‑track soundtrack, released on July 31, combines 22 classic Green Day songs with the new single, four previously unreleased live recordings from the Hollywood Palladium, and contributions from the fictional band Analog Dogs as well as artists The Paradox, Ultra Q and McKenna Grace.

Nimrods, written and directed by Lee Kirk, follows three friends who mistakenly believe they have secured an opening slot for Green Day’s New Year’s Eve show and embark on a chaotic cross‑country drive to Los Angeles. The film, produced in part by the band, will open in U.S. cinemas on August 14, with special‑event screenings in the United Kingdom, Italy and other markets beginning August 11. Green Day also released an official music video for the new track, which showcases a 1950s‑style rock‑and‑roll sound.

Fans can pre‑order the soundtrack on CD, cassette, digital platforms and vinyl, and the film’s trailer highlights the band’s early‑tour experiences that inspired the story.
