Green economy initiatives launched in Republika Srpska and Serbia
Various initiatives are being launched in the Balkans to support the transition to a green economy through employment and investment.
In Republika Srpska, the UDAS organization is implementing the ‘Green Jobs’ project to increase employment opportunities in green sectors for vulnerable groups. Funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Labour Organization, the project targets persons with disabilities, young people, and rural residents. It provides vocational training, career counseling, and psychological support, focusing on sectors such as agriculture, forestry, manufacturing, and construction.
In Serbia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced a public call to finance green investments and local strategic planning. The initiative aims to support companies, local governments, and protected area managers in areas such as decarbonization, circular economy, and biodiversity protection. The call includes funding for mature green investments and technical assistance for project preparation, with a deadline of September 30.
