Green Fund approves urban resilience planning for Greek municipalities

The Green Fund has approved funding for the development of Urban Resilience Plans across various Greek municipalities as part of the ‘Environmental Balance Actions’ program. These strategic plans aim to help local communities forecast, address, and adapt to natural, social, and economic challenges, specifically focusing on climate change and natural disasters.

In the Preveza region, the municipalities of Paros and Ziros have each been allocated €37,200 to develop these plans. Additionally, a payment of €31,379.59 was approved for the Municipality of Preveza for ongoing road reconstruction works. In the Cyclades islands, the municipalities of Syros-Hermoupolis, Thira, and Anafi received funding of €44,640, €37,200, and €12,400, respectively. The plan for Syros focuses on protecting cultural heritage in Ermoupoli and Upper Syros.

Across 23 municipalities, the total budget for developing these resilience plans amounts to €1,121,828. The initiative serves as a preliminary step to identify vulnerabilities and design technical projects for environmental protection and sustainable economic development.
