GREGY project advances with technical studies for Egypt-Greece link

The GREGY electrical interconnection project has entered the implementation phase. ELICA, the project's implementing company, launched a tender process in mid-July for seabed research studies, alongside two additional studies regarding onshore geotechnical data in Egypt and Greece.

These technical studies are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2028, providing the necessary data for subsequent design and implementation stages. Technical specification tenders are anticipated to begin within 2027. The project aims to reach a Final Investment Decision (FID) by mid-2028, which will lead to the procurement of necessary equipment.

The project holds significant geopolitical value, intended to strengthen the Greek economy and enhance the country's connection to the broader European energy market by transporting clean electricity from Egypt to Europe.
