Gretel Killeen revives her TV persona on Australian season of “The Traitors”
Veteran broadcaster and former Australian Big Brother host Gretel Killeen, now 63, returned to reality TV as the presenter of the Australian edition of “The Traitors”. While filming the show she reflected on having “toned down” her dress and speech to avoid attention, and now embraces a flamboyant style, appearing in a turquoise suit, orange blazer, snakeskin‑patterned boots, beret, rings and a black toy cat. She also displays her own artwork, having taken up painting in recent years.
“The Traitors”, based on a Dutch format that has spawned 40 international adaptations, is filmed in a manor in New Zealand and pits 22 former contestants from Australian reality programmes such as “Australian Idol”, “Australian Survivor”, “The Bachelor”, “The Block”, “MasterChef Australia”, “The Real Housewives” franchise and “Drag Race Down Under” against each other. Players are secretly designated as “traitors” who attempt to eliminate “faithful” contestants, while the faithful try to expose the traitors. The season offers a prize pool of up to $250,000.
