Sebastian Baez defeats Grigor Dimitrov at Cincinnati Open

Argentine tennis player Sebastian Baez defeated Grigor Dimitrov in the first round of the Cincinnati Open ATP Masters 1000. Despite Dimitrov winning the first set 6-1, Baez staged a comeback to win the match 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Reports noted that Dimitrov, a former Cincinnati champion, appeared to struggle with physical fatigue and energy levels during the latter stages of the match, losing the final five games of the encounter. Baez, currently ranked 53rd in the ATP, will advance to the second round to face American Learner Tien.

Other notable results from the tournament include Stefanos Tsitsipas advancing to the second round after a victory over Valentin Royer, where he will next face Felix Auger-Aliassime. In the women's draw, Elena-Gabriela Ruse moved into the second round following a win over Magda Linette and is set to face the 17th seed, Alex Eala.
