Bulgarian former world No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov pulled out of the ATP 250 tournament in Los Cabos, Mexico, after medical examinations revealed bursitis in his leg. The inflammation forced him to miss two scheduled training sessions and abandoned his first‑round matchup against 17‑year‑old French player Mous Koue.
Following the withdrawal, Dimitrov and his team travelled to the United States. He is slated to compete in the Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati, Ohio, from 13 to 23 August 2026, having received a wildcard entry. Dimitrov previously won the Cincinnati title in 2017, defeating Nick Kyrgios 6‑3, 7‑5, and hopes to be ready for the US Open where he also holds the defending champion’s title for 2025.
