Grimaldi post office closure prompts call for mobile service

The post office in Grimaldi, Italy, has been temporarily closed for renovation work. Mayor Paolo Stilla and council president Ramona Bruni say the shutdown is causing serious difficulties for residents, especially elderly people and those with limited mobility, who must travel to neighboring towns for pension payments, mail collection and everyday financial services.

Stilla urged Poste Italiane to deploy a mobile post office – a container or equipped van – for the entire renovation period, offering municipal assistance to locate a suitable public site. He said, “L’ufficio postale di Grimaldi rappresenta un presidio sociale ed economico fondamentale per la nostra comunità,” and added, “Ci auguriamo ci ripensino dopo questo nostro appello pubblico.” Bruni echoed the concerns, noting daily complaints from citizens and stating, “Porterò la questione agli organi competenti.” So far, Poste Italiane has not responded to the request.
