Grimes announces new album ‘PSYOPERA’ and single ‘ACCELERANDO’

Canadian experimental pop artist Grimes has announced her first studio album in six years, titled ‘PSYOPERA’. The project follows her 2020 release, ‘Miss Anthropocene’.

To introduce the upcoming album, Grimes released a new single and music video titled ‘ACCELERANDO’, produced in collaboration with VADAKIN. The track features a darker, more aggressive electronic sound and explores themes of rapid technological advancement and the development of dangerous weaponry.

Grimes will release the new album through her own label, Nazgul Recording LLC, following her departure from Columbia Records. While a release date for ‘PSYOPERA’ has not yet been confirmed, the artist indicated the project will address topics such as artificial intelligence, internet culture, religion, war, and the relationship between humanity and technology. Although the album explores AI-centered themes, Grimes stated she does not use generative AI to create her music.
